Opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.

The opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia took place in Ho Chi Minh City on December 8, 2023. The opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia in Ho Chi Minh City is a significant event, which testifies to the ever-strengthening and long-lasting relations between the two peoples and states, as well as its further development.

Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam H.E. Mr. Vahram Kazhoyan and Mrs. Valia Gokoyan Kazhoyan, H.E. Mr. Tran Phuoc Anh, Director General of the Department of External Relations of Ho Chi Minh City of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, Mr. Gregory Ohannessian (Greg Ohan), newly appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Ho Chi Minh City, members of the Consular Corps of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamese and foreign businessmen, Armenians living in Ho Chi Minh City and a large number of media representatives attended the ceremony.

Vahram Kazhoyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Viet Nam, Mr. Tran Phuoc Anh, Director-General of the Department of External Relations of Ho Chi Minh City delivered their speeches during the official ceremony. Firstly, they congratulated Mr. Ohannessian on the occasion of his appointment as the Honorary consul of the Republic of Armenia and wished him success in his future endeavors. They referred to the current relations between Armenia and Viet Nam and the development of cooperation in the future. The speakers highlighted the long history of cooperation between the two countries, which includes a number of spheres, particularly trade-economic, investment and tourism spheres.

Honorary Consul Mr. Gregory Ohannessian, in his speech, thanked Ambassador Vahram Kazhoyan and the staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia for supporting his candidacy for the appointment as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Ohannessian emphasized the further strengthening of existing ties between the two countries and the importance of forming new ways of cooperation. Mr. Ohannessian mentioned common goals and mutual respect as the main driving forces for pushing bilateral relations to greater heights.

The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia also mentioned that the opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia in Ho Chi Minh City will promote the facilitation of communication, cultural exchange and the development of trade-economic cooperation between Armenia and Viet Nam, taking into account the fact that the headquarters and representative offices of almost all major Vietnamese and foreign companies are located in Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Ohannessian also added that the opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Armenia in Ho Chi Minh City opens a new page in the relations between Armenia and Viet Nam, full of optimism and a common vision of the two peoples for the future.

The opening ceremony was followed by a reception, where Armenian cuisine, as well as Armenian Ararat brandy and Jermuk mineral sparkling water imported from Armenia to Viet Nam, were presented.
