Vahram Kazhoyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam had a meeting on January 13, 2023, with Mr. Robert Kalatschan, founder and the President of “Giving it Back to Kids” American non-governmental organization.

Ambassador Kazhoyan made a brief historical review of the Armenian-Vietnamese relations, as well as presented the main directions of the activities of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to Vietnam during the meeting.

Mr. Kalatschan, in his turn, noted that Giving it Back to Kids NGO has been operating in Vietnam for over 20 years and is the oldest international non-governmental organization in the country. Then Mr. Kalatschan briefly presented the main spheres of activities of his NGO, that operates in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines.

Ambassador Kazhoyan also presented the current humanitarian situation in Artsakh, as a result of the one-month-long blockade of the Lachin Corridor, resulting in the critical humanitarian situation for the 120 thousand people, including 30 thousand children of Artsakh. The shortage of food and medicine is already significant in Artsakh. He also noted that unfortunately the calls of the international community and international organizations have had no effect on the Azerbaijani authorities.

The parties agreed to meet again to discuss the possible cooperation between the Embassy of Armenia and “Giving it Back to Kids” NGO.

Being an American-Armenian, Mr. Kalatschan, was very excited to visit the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia; his father has moved from Western Armenia to the Soviet Armenia in 1915, in the aftermath of the Armenian Genocide, then to Ukraine, and afterwards emigrated to the United States. Currently he lives in California. He has been involved in the construction of the Armenian Genocide memorial in Pasadena.

Aramazd Muradyan, Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia and Ms. Tong Thi Thanh Tam, Vice-President of “Giving it Back to Kids” participated in the meeting.
